My Mum used to say to us kids “if you don’t have health you have nothing”. I now find myself channelling my Mum and repeating this to my kids over and over. Ironically, my health has not always been a priority for me. If you’ve read my Origin Story (https://wisdom-makers.com/index.php/2019/10/11/origin-story/) you’ll see that there were some wake-up calls that changed this.
I’ve changed some habits recently that have made a huge difference e.g. cut out coffee, turn my phone on flight mode before bed, ride my bike to the park with the kids (even on those days when I’m convinced I don’t have the energy and miraculously I feel more energetic after!), and if it’s a beautiful day outside I’ll do a “walk and talk” meeting.
Make sure you take care of yourself because no doubt you are in a role that is high intensity and high pressure. If you put your health first you’ll do your best work.
